How it Works
The adjusters at Unified Public Advocacy are there to help with all aspects of your claim. The process includes signing the claim, reporting the claim, inspecting the property, preparing an estimate, meeting with the insurance company, negotiation, and settlement.
The initial step of the process is the initial consultation and the having the paperwork signed that the insurance company needs to work with us on the prospective clients claim. A licensed public adjuster will come out to the home and inspect the home and see if there is any claim that we can assist the prospective client with. If there is something found that can be worked they will complete paperwork for Unified Public Advocacy to handle your claim for you.
Next a public adjuster will report your claim to your insurance company. This may be done via phone call, fax, or internet filing. However, this is something that is handled by the agent on your behalf.
Once the claim is reported the adjuster who is handling the negotiation with the insurance company will come out and inspect the property and take measurements, notes and pictures for the file. This is a critical step as it helps the adjuster with preparation of their estimate.
Up next is the preparation of the estimate. The adjuster who inspected the property will prepare the estimate for the damages to the property. They will use our database to value the damages and once valued, the estimate will be used in the negotiation with the insurance company.
After the estimate is prepared your public adjuster from United Public Adjusters will meet with the adjuster from your insurance company. At this meeting your public adjuster will present the claim to the insurance company and begin discussions with the adjuster about what should be covered and why it should be covered. After this meeting the insurance will render their decision on the claim and the negotiations will intensify.
In this negotiation phase the public adjuster will review your policy and see where there are oversights and omissions by the insurance company and will make sure to hold the insurance company accountable for what the policy says not just what they feel like paying on a claim. There are a number of methods that are used to get the higher and additional payouts from the insurance company which include phone calls, emails, letters, and using the law and policy language. Our goal is to get you paid quickly and properly.
The final phase of the process is settlement. This can be resolved by the public adjuster with the adjuster from the insurance company, through the appraisal process, umpire process, and potentially through lawsuit. Many cases are settled by the public adjuster and the adjuster from the insurance company after the negotiations phase. However, some cases are resolved in the appraisal process which involves two objective third parties one chosen by our side and one chosen by the insurance company to come to a resolution. If these third parties cannot come to an agreement they can invoke the umpire process where there is an additional mutually agreed upon in advance third party that makes a binding decision on the payout. Even fewer cases go to lawsuit but this is an additional option for final claim resolution. This is where the client would opt for an attorney to represent their interests from that point forward.
This is a common progression of a claim but every case is Link, ifferent and will progress at different speeds depending on the arguments that need to be made on any given claim. If you need assistance with your claim please reach out to us at 1-855-944-3473 for your free initial consultation.
